Fiji is one of the godfathers of Pacific Island music, who has released Polynesian musical anthems since the mid 90’s. Originally from Fiji, but a Hawaiian resident since he was 14, Fiji’s influence on some of the biggest musicians coming out of the Pacific like J Boog, Common Kings, and The Green is undeniable. He is featured on the aforementioned artist’s albums, but has an impressive discography of his own, which was never widely distributed in the mainland U.S. until now. Fiji is releasing a definitive collection of his own music on June 22 through Mensch House Records. Aptly tilted Collection: 50th State Of Mind, the 2-disc, 50-song set features previously unreleased music, new material, and classic songs previously unavailable on digital platforms.
Rootfire is proud to premiere “Come On Over,” featuring PAPA, one of those classic songs that never saw a proper digital release. Fiji’s golden voice on the track insights a positive uplifting message of having someone special help you overcome your challenges. He does this with so much soul and with an inspiring delivery. Something we can definitely use more of in the current state of the world.
Get lost in the song and check out Fiji live during his Summer tour.
