First Listen Premiere: Aaron Wolf & Alific – “Moving On”

Aaron Wolf is like an enchanting, ever-smoking chalice of creativity, and much like a finely crafted chalice, the hits keep coming. The San Diego native meshes reggae, folk, and hip-hop with conscious lyrics that speak to the heart and soul. In 2018, Aaron took a leap of faith and embarked into the world of music by independently releasing his debut EP, Greater Than Self. Since then, he has been steadily releasing tunes that put the consciousness in a place of placid euphoria where inner peace and happiness coexist in perfect harmony.

His latest hit, “Moving On,” with which he’s joined by Alific who produced the track, doesn’t stray from this unique sound. The tune begins with Wolf’s silky howl that enchants listeners before bouncing into a loving tune where the instrumentation dances through the ear like a cosmic ballet. The gentle strumming of guitars to the rhythmic pulse of percussion creates a symphony that swells the heart and moves the feet.

The song’s tempo masterfully echoes the cadence of a timeless clock, evoking a sensation as if the music unfolds in sync with the ebb and flow of life’s passing days. The production speaks for itself, as each note sparkles like a firefly in the night, which adds a unique luminescence to the song’s composition. The catchy bridge brings a delightful smile as the chants of Wolf shoot down into the heart.

I guess some bonds we’re meant to break,

but I wish ‘em all okay

And at the same time, I’m singing the same song,

I’m gone, not gonna look back

The lyrics Wolf sings throughout vividly paint the bittersweet narrative of those we’ve moved on from in our lives, serving as an iridescent reflection of the once cherished connections as they gradually fade into the background. “Moving On” also captures the resilient spirit of the human journey and the triumphant ascent after moments of deep introspection to find one’s true self. The combination of Wolf’s heartfelt words and the dazzling instrumentation form a brilliant mantra where the melody resonates deeply with the soul.

“Moving On” drops on all major streaming platforms this Friday, September 15, but Rootfire readers are able to listen to it first at the link above. Listeners who like what they hear should keep an eye out for a full LP dropping in Spring, 2024.
