Ziggy Marley in Vegas: A Night of Love, Peace & Paying Homage

During an interview with KSNV’s Live Desk News Anchor, Evan Schreiber, leading up to his July 17 performance at The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas, international reggae star Ziggy Marley expressed that he wanted to share “a night of love, peace, and paying homage to musical masterpieces” with his fans, and he provided exactly that.

Lettuce

For his latest Circle of Peace Tour,  the eldest son of reggae legend Bob Marley brought along the Grammy-nominated psychedelic funk band, Lettuce, to warm up the crowds. The six-piece group puts their own spin on funk music by blending it with a myriad of other genres, including hip-hop, rock, psychedelia, jazz, soul, jam, go-go, and the avant-garde, and they masterfully set the exhilarating  tone for the night with a solid hour of their rhythmic sound prior to the chill-inducing entrance of Marley.  (If you are unfamiliar, I highly suggest you check them out HERE!)

Taking the stage with the empowering voices of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Marley’s late father, the Grammy and Emmy award-winning artist performed alongside his 13-piece band and did not disappoint. Not just a musician, Marley is a true activist who spreads a message similar to his father’s, one  of harmony, peace, and love. He believes in unification among us all, and through his original, stirring music as well as some well-placed covers of his father’s iconic songs, he provided hope that it’s possible.  The  melodic sound of horns , the harmonious background singers and Marley’s passionate voice emanated from the stage to infect the audience with healing vibes.

I was simply awestruck by the soul-quenching love I felt experiencing this galvanizing performer and his talented entourage.  It is something everyone should experience.  In a world that sometimes feels very dark, we all deserve the refreshing positivity that is delivered during his show.

Ziggy Marley’s  Circle of Peace tour with Lettuce has ended, but you can catch him this fall with his brothers Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani, and Damian on as part of The Marley Brothers Legacy Tour 2024 beginning in September!
