Single Showcase: Sharae & The Budderfly Effect – “Dusty Shelf”

Complacency can be one of the most subtle yet dangerous traps that we can fall into. Through a veil of comfort lies the death of ambition and curiosity. As human beings, we often gravitate toward the warmth of familiarity, lulling us into a blank silence and stripping us of our light and fire. We forget that life is about moving forward, reaching for the stars (even if we come up short) and etching ourselves into the pages of time.

But some refuse to let the curse of complacency take hold. And every now and then, there’s a rhythm that breaks through the silence and shakes us awake. The latest single from Arizona-based Sharae and the Budderfly Effect, “Dusty Shelf,” is one of those tracks.

What started as “Harder” riddim by Lion Riddims branched into a monster of a song, providing a wild, unfiltered surge that pushes against the lullaby of stillness with its zesty guitar, thunderous bass, and tremendous vocal power. Frontwoman and singer, Sharae, explains the song’s potent opening lines: “I was thinking about how my ex and others I’ve known in my past who just wouldn’t do anything with themselves and are stagnant in life. I wondered if they ever thought about themselves in a way that’ll push themselves to be better and make a change.”

Do you ever stop to think about yourself

In a way that gets you off that dusty shelf

Do you ever, do you ever, do you ever?

\

With all these ingredients, the track plays like a roller coaster that soars into the ears with grit, groove, and grace.  It pulls you in, shakes you loose and drops you into the heart of the message while  indulging you with an infectious rhythm.

“Dusty Shelf” is more than just a wake up call…it’s a spark to a flame, a rhythmic reminder to move forever onward and an anthem urging you to rise to the occasion.
