It’s about damn time Joey Calderaio had a dope band behind him! Backed by The Future Buds, Joey recorded a seven-song EP in one of the most coveted venues imaginable. And what better place to debut their sound together than in their home state of Florida? To take it even further, what better setting than what I like to call our modern-day Johnny Carson Show or the reggae-adjacent TRL? You guessed it—Sugarshack Sessions.
Joey and The Future Buds recorded seven songs during this session. All of the tunes will be released as singles on YouTube before releasing collectively on streaming platforms as an E.P. The fourth installment, “Runaway Lover,” dropped on February 18th.
In a tale as old as time, Joey sings beautifully about the one that got away. The relaxed backyard vibes, surrounded by grateful fans experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime moment, brought a soft yet powerful energy to the song, making it truly special.
The band complemented Joey’s voice so well, each member delivering their individual parts with both professionalism and laid-back grooves. When it came time for the harmonies, they crushed it there as well.
The man himself said it best: “Together, we really captured the essence of what makes our live performance so extraordinary and different from the studio-recorded versions. We hope you enjoy listening to the session as much as we enjoyed playing!”
I, for one, truly enjoyed listening, and I believe most people will feel the same. Keep an eye out for the rest of their releases from Sugarshack Studios, and be sure to show your support for Joey Calderaio and The Future Buds on all their socials and wherever you get your music.
