Rich Man Poor Man – The Clinton Fearon Story

Rich Man is a feature film that reveals the proudly beating heart of reggae music through the untold story of Clinton Fearon, one of the most prolific and underappreciated artists to emerge from Jamaica’s musical renaissance of the 1960s and 70s. The son of a poor sugar cane farmer who willed his way into Kingston’s legendary studios, ‘Bassie’ – as he quickly became known – began a career that has pushed through racial barriers, political violence and economic sabotage, and is still going strong more than fifty years later. Filmed over several years on four continents, ‘Rich Man’ follows Clinton through a critical period of regrowth, as he overcomes financial hardship and self-doubt to create some of his greatest music to date. As we continue to lose many of reggae’s unheralded forefathers, ‘Rich Man’ celebrates a supreme talent in one of the most influential genres in music history, shining a light on the unconquerable spirit that keeps Jamaican music alive and stronger than ever.
