First Listen: The Irie – “Turn Me Up” ft. The Elovaters

The Irie out of AZ is taking it sweet and slow with a mist-scorching sunshine rhythm for the dog days of August and a best friend sitting shotgun in their new tune “Turn Me Up” feat. The Elovaters. With some classic reggae patches of steel drum stabs, the tune intros into a reflective feeling of fuzzy recollection that maybe a few of us have felt one too many times passed out by the pool early in the bright sunshine morning after a night of heavy spirit and fun…..you sit with it, soak it in for a minute, but then you stand up, pick yourself up and TURN UP. The new day brings fresh returns.

AZ’s The Irie is bringing a smile and a half with “Turn Me Up.” Link with the brethren Jackson Wetherbee of The Elovaters and the vibes are cruisin’ with the monikers fitting like a crisp new cap. Yo; these bro’s can SING together too. A truly complimentary collaboration is what we love to see in the scene we surround ourselves with. This chune would sound fantastic live, and we hope to see it in the festivals to come. The Irie and The Elovaters lifting spirits high from Arizona to New England inna North American Reggae style. Big up to the homie Nathaniel Ras Mares on the instantly recognizable artistic touch gracing the cover of the “Turn Me Up” single. A perfect capture of some past times forgotten.

Bass player and songwriter for Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, James feels, plays and lives the music. Lucky for us he also has the knack for remembering what happened and writing it down in his own voice.
