The world’s greatest songwriter was born in the rural Jamaican parish of St. Ann on Feb 6, 1945. His impact on both the music and citizens of the world is impossible to overstate.
To celebrate his 75th birthday (that’s not even that old! He should still be here), we put together this Youtube playlist of some of Bob’s best recordings made prior to signing with a major label (Island Records). We used Youtube because many of Bob’s early tunes are still unavailable on Spotify.
Devin spent almost 20 years as singer and songwriter for L.A. based roots-reggae band The Expanders. During that time he helped write/record/release 4 records, backed numerous veteran Jamaican artists at performances throughout California, and toured across the U.S. and Europe. He is also an experienced record selector and collector of Jamaican vinyl. Devin now splits his time between recording/performing solo acoustic reggae, playing guitar for veteran SoCal groups Long Beach Dub Allstars, The Lions, and Hepcat, and editing reggae news for Rootfire.net.
