Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad – Whatever Cost

Tune Of The Week: October 7

We just arrived home from Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad‘s Rochester, NY album release party. The show celebrated the release of their new album STEADY, which came out September 30 on Easy Star Records.

This was a special trip for the Rootfire crew; we went in full force with our wives, girlfriends, siblings, parents and more. Tickets sold out shortly after doors opened, and all night music ensued with a GPGDS acoustic set, two support bands, and a lengthy electric GPGDS set.

In celebration of Panda’s new album, we are featuring the first track “Whatever Cost” as the Rootfire Tune of the Week.

For a limited time you can download the track for free here. Enjoy the tune, and get your copy of STEADY now livepanda.com

“Whatever Cost” Background Info:

“Whatever Cost” was my way of writing a tribute to not only the great leaders of the Civil Rights Movement, but also to the students and everyday people who put themselves in harms way to non-violently protest unjust and oppressive laws. The aim of the song is to remind us all of the great sacrifices that were made during this period in U.S. history and to inspire each of us to continue to fight the good fight. “No forces that we cannot conquer”

Seth founded Rootfire while he was managing a group of influential modern reggae acts, including The Green, John Brown’s Body, and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad. The goal of the project has always been to connect the people who participate in the modern reggae movement.
